Theatre, dance, and performance work with the body in space, in a live setting. In Virtual Reality, however, the body is fiction, an avatar, and the environment is pre-produced. How can these two worlds be combined?
As a completely new approach of this year’s edition of VRHAM! Festival we present virtual live formats, trying to find out how the combination of performative live projects and Virtual Reality shows the artists new ways of involving the audience as an active part of the performance. What new perspectives are opening up to the audience? Are Virtual and Augmented Reality only supplementary fragments of the live show or can the combination of the two create a completely new performative form?
We talk to Marcus Lobbes, Artistic Director of the Academy for Theatre and Digitality Dortmund, and Marcel Karnapke of CyberRäuber, who contributed MEET JULIET, MEET ROMEO and FRAGMENTE – EIN DIGITALER FREISCHÜTZ to this year’s program.
