For this year’s predominantly digital edition of the festival, VRHAM! has been able to win three renowned experts for the international jury.

The winner of the international VRHAMMY AWARD 2020 will be selected by Liz Rosenthal, Curator of immersive content for Venice International Film Festival’s »Venice VR«, Founder & CEO of Power to the Pixel, Kay Watson, Digital Curator at Serpentine Galleries in London, and Jesse Damiani, Deputy Director of Emerging Technology at Southern New Hampshire University, Forbes Contributor, and Editor-at-Large of VRScout.

The 5,000 Euro prize goes to the best international VR production of this year’s exhibition program and will be awarded with the kind support of the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius at the digital festival opening on June 4, 2020, in the presence of the artist(s).

All works of art will be exhibited in the digital edition VRHAM! VIRTUAL at the Museum of Other Realities and can be experienced by festival visitors with the appropriate technical equipment.

The Jury

Jesse Damiani is Deputy Director of Emerging Technology at Southern New Hampshire University, a Forbes Contributor, and Editor-at-Large of VRScout. He is the Curator of the XR For Change summit, Curatorial Advisor at CURRENTS New Media, and Curator at the forthcoming Nxt Museum. He curated the Spatial Reality exhibition at sp[a]ce gallery, and co-curated Virtual Futures with LACMA and Sim-Cinema with FLOAT.

Liz Rosenthal specialises in boosting the digital potential of creators, institutions and media business. She is the Founder & CEO of Power to the Pixel and Curator of immersive content for Venice International Film Festival’s Venice VR, the festival’s official competition section and Venice Production Bridge Finance Market. Liz is Executive Producer for CreativeXR a unique immersive content accelerator programme funded by Arts Council England, Digital Catapult in London. She has an extensive network and knowledge of international financiers, distributors and talent across the immersive entertainment and arts space.

Kay Watson is a researcher, producer and curator working with art and advanced technologies, photography and feminist, curatorial and institutional histories of art. She is currently Digital Curator at Serpentine Galleries and a PhD student at Birkbeck, University of London. Recent projects include Jakob Kudsk Steensen, The Deep Listener (2019) and Catharsis (2020); Hito Steyerl, Actual Reality OS (2019); Suzanne Treister, From SURVIVOR (F) to The Escapist BHST (Black Hole Spacetime) (2019); Jenna Sutela, I Magma (2019); Ian Cheng, BOB and Emissaries (2018) and The Serpentine Podcast (2018-20)

VRHAM! – Virtual Reality & Arts Festival Hamburg is the first international artistic Virtual Reality festival which first took place 2018 in Hamburg. After two successful festival edition in Hamburg’s Oberhafenquartier, VRHAM! has firmly established itself as an important date in the international VR art scene. Due to the effects of the Corona Pandemic, the third festival edition of VRAHM! will take place from June 4 to 7, 2020, as a predominantly digital festival.
