VRHAM! 2025 – DIGITAL & IMMERSIVE ART BIENNALE

This June, Hamburg’s Oberhafen will once again become a vibrant centre for digital art, fresh perspectives, and shared experiences. The VRHAM! Biennale brings together artists, creatives, and curious minds to discover, reflect on, and interact with immersive media art.

VRHAM! Exhibition –Experience an exhibition that reimagines classical art forms through digital media. From virtual reality to 3D-printed kinetic sculptures, holograms and interactive installations – the showcase presents current positions by local and international artists who expand our ways of seeing, feeling and thinking.
The VRHAM! Exhibition follows the format of a traditional art exhibition. You can simply purchase a day ticket in advance online or on-site (EC or credit card accepted), then visit at any time during opening hours to enjoy the works at your own pace.

EVOLVER – Directed by Marshmallow Laser Feast Embark on a multisensory journey through the human body: this 40-minute mixed-reality installation by UK-based art collective Marshmallow Laser Feast begins with an immersive audio meditation, guided by the voice of Cate Blanchett. You will then enter the VR space, where your own breath becomes both visible and tangible – meditative, profound and visually striking.
This immersive experience accommodates six participants at a time and runs at fixed intervals. Please book your ticket for the date and time that suits you best, and make sure to arrive at the venue at least 10 minutes before your session starts.

Digital Art Lab – What might the digital art of tomorrow look like? Curated by Peggy Schoenegge in collaboration with the DKB STIFTUNG and CAA Berlin, the Lab offers hands-on workshops, inspiring talks and space for exchange. Open to professionals, students, and anyone curious about the future of art.
Simply register via Eventbrite, come to the Oberhafenquartier, and join us in rethink art together.

MOIN Showcase – To launch this year’s Biennale, we are proud to present, in cooperation with MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, five immersive projects funded through the “Innovative audiovisual formats” programme. The artist teams will showcase their prototypes – all of which explore digital storytelling through emerging media – moving, bold and forward-looking.
